You will need to choose a first name and then a last name from the drop-down menu. Remember, this name will be your unique identity in Second Life, and it cannot be changed later.
If your registration is successful, your form will reset, and a long identification number will appear on top of your page. This is your unique identifier. You do not need to remember this or write it down.
If you do not see this number displayed, you will probably see instead the following message: "SL Name not available." This means that the name you picked is already in use. Please choose another name and resubmit your form.
Make sure to check out the system requirements on the site to ensure the software will work with your computer graphics card and memory. After you have the software installed, start the software and log in with your Second Life first and last name and password. Your new avatar (or 3-D self) will appear on the Public Works Orientation Trail. See you there in Second Life!!
Once you arrive at the regular Second Life Orientation, you will have to proceed through until you reach help island. At that point you can open your map by clicking the "Map" button on the bottom of your screen and then typing in Public Works in the box next to the "Search" button in the map window. After hitting the "Teleport" button you will arrive at the island. See you there!
